About Rational Picks
Rational Picks is a small independent UK site that helps you choose household appliances on the numbers: what they cost to buy, and what they cost to run.
The price tag is only part of the cost. A heater, dryer or oven can cost more in electricity over a couple of years than it did in the shop. So we work out running costs from manufacturer specifications and energy labels at the current UK energy price cap, and we update them every time the cap changes.
How we work
- We research from published facts: specification sheets, energy labels, retailer listings and reputable published reviews.
- We don’t claim to have tested products ourselves, and we never write “we tested” when we haven’t.
- No brand can pay to be featured.
- Every price and figure is dated, and we link to more than one retailer where we can.
